I live in the woods and I have a slight mosquito problem, but its not
huge.. the biggest help I have found is to make sure I don't have
container or water setting around, ie buckets of water, ok tires that
hold water etc.. or if I do (I have 2 horse troughs on the property) i
pour a layer of oil on it.. canola, olive, corn etc.. mosquitos can't
breath through it so it usually prevents a large infestation of them.

As far as other insects, flys etc. I have a huge Southernwood, feverfew
and mugwort growing on the one side of the house and under two of the
main windows and I don't have a lot of problems with them.

I don't have a roach problem fact is I don't think I have ever seen a
roach out here.. I know that ants hate cinnamon though.. and putting
some essential oil of cinnamon in a sprayer bottle and spraying it
around or sprinkling ground cinnamon on their path makes them run away
quite effectively. Dunno if the same thing would work for roaches or
not.
