Knopf's solution + Nitsch's micronutrients + 1 drop FeCl2 per liter + 10g
agar makes a good all-purpose fern and moss agar. You may need to
adjust pH for special purposes. Most moss spores germinate in a few
days on this agar; ferns take 3-10 days depending on species.

Carolina Biological (2700 York Road, Burlington, NC 27215)
(1-800-334-5551 or 800 547-1733)

offers several different species of mosses, including spores. I have
the 91/92 catalog at hand, which lists:
Moss liquid culture kit: (nutrient + spores)
moss agar culture kit
moss minimarsh
Polytrichum spores
Dicranum plants
Mnium plants
Hypnum plants
Polytrichum plants
and
Sphagnum plants.

They also offer fern and moss liquid and agar media-- probably something
like the Knopf's + Nitsch's I wrote about earlier.

According to _Gardening_by_Mail_, 3rd edition (ISBN
