(213) 295-4842 Came about as the brainstorm of biology instructor Tammy Bird after the riots. There were no grocery stores in the area and she wanted to do something to get food to her students. She and her students started an on-campus garden. Melinda McMullin an LA advertising exec volunteered to help and has, I hear, been doing that virtually full-time since. They got a $50,000 grant from the Rebuild LA committee to start up a bottling line for salad dressing. The kids grow the herbs, bottle and sell the dressing. I believe there was an article on them in Newsweek last spring. Proceeds go back to the students in the form of scholarship funds. Marcie
