Tinctures - wild harvested dried and fresh herbs. I don't buy herbs -
I wildcraft. A tincture is by definition alcohol, the remainder is by
definition water.
The principle is simple
- if the plant has water you use alcohol which hasn't
- fresh plants: 95 o/o
- if the plant doesn't have water you use alcohol which has
- dried plants: 40-70 o/o depending on the plant.
I haven't used glycerin... I've made my own oil extracts though.
The best oil for this is grape seed oil ;) available in bulk over here.
Can't say what you can buy over there, but forget about olive or sesam
oil. Way too greasy and at least olive has that distinct smell.
What to use for which plant depends on the constituents you want out
of it. Best source for this is Michael Moore's Materia Medica; for
uses of these tinctures get his Herbal Tinctures 3.0.
