POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Objective:

During the past decade, many participants in the Agri-Food system
have accepted the need for more research that will provide the
foundation for a sustainable system. The public continues to focus
more attention on environmental and food issues, and increasingly
demands change. However, these changes must have a firm foundation
in sound scientific research.

In recognition of the need for this type of research, the Faculty
of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at McGill University
has established a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Sustainable
Agriculture. This Fellowship is supported by a endowment,
generously provided by an alumnus of the Faculty.

The fellowship is intended to support innovative research in
sustainable development that might not otherwise find support
through traditional funding sources, and addresses such themes as:
agriculture, food systems, nutrition, conservation and the
environment, sustainable systems and community development, and
issues in Canada's North. The research program of the Fellow will
strengthen the contribution by the Faculty to sustainable
agriculture in Canada.

Value: $CA 26,000 per annum for two years.

Eligibility:

PhD completed by the time of taking up the award.

Applications:

There is no application form, but please include the following in
your application:

- Curriculum Vitae

- Description of research interests and research program proposed
for the fellowship (maximum of two pages). If appropriate, please
indicate what facilities will be required to undertake the
research.

- Two letters of reference,

- All academic transcripts (originals or certified copies)

The Faculty will consider the candidate on the basis of academic
merit, research potential, and its ability to provide the required
facilities. The Faculty may choose to place the candidate with an
appropriate unit.

Deadline: June 1, 1997, with an anticipated start date of
Sept.1, 1997.
