Graham,
There is something very exciting and moving about your posting.  It's in 
the heart of a large, old, urban setting with directions from Tube, and 
Bus... It is so often easy for me to forget that most humans live in urban 
situations as I worry about the half hour commute to a city of 80,000 
people to buy groceries once a week.  Good on ya, as they say in Australia.
