Re: GBlist: Garages

Couldn't resist the famous story on Adolf Hitler's garage. In Albert
Speer's memoirs, he (as an architect) went to great lengths to poo-poo
fearless leader's bad sense of design. Seems that at the retreat designed
by Hitler hisself, the garage was immediately below the living room used
for extended meetings. At every meeting, it didn't take long for the
attendees to be overwhelmed by the benzene fumes... but they were loathe to
complain (for obvious reasons).

From an IAQ standpoint, the integral garage is a bad idea. It's all but
impossible to block airflows. Better to build a separate structure with a
cute covered walkway.
