I will hike out into the wild plum grove this week and see if I can find any
on the ground or partially buried. They will reproduce true to form.
This is the common wild plum found in the South; you don't have them in Florida?

This is a small but fairly meaty plum good to eat off the tree when ripe.
If you boil a whole pile of them then somehow extract the seeds then
cook with sweetener of some sort (if honey, don't boil but put in at the last
when going off boil). Don't know if you need pectin but as a jam it is the very best plum jam there is;
color is reddish, much better as a thick jam than wasted as jelly. Make up a bunch of
corn/flaxseed/spelt baked pones or biscuits, a dab of olive oil and a goodly pile of the plum jam
and enjoy with good coffee or tea, slice of apple, smoked German dry sausages.
