Re: [seedsavers] seedsavers Digest, Vol 1, Issue 14

Hi,

Great to find another seed community online.
I started a small regional seed organization called the Seed Library. We started at a public library in Gardiner NY.
We're still getting off the ground, but so far there is great interest and enthusiasm from the seed saving community.
Our goal is to stay very regional, have all of our seeds grown in the region they are intended to be planted in, and focus
entirely on open-pollinated seeds with roots in local history.

The Seed Library allows members to "borrow" seed, just like a book at a public library.
Seed is "returned" by saving some seed at the end of the season.
When our website is up, members will be able to check-out seeds online.
For now, those in the Northeast can check out
www.seedlibrary.org
www.seedlibrary.blogspot.com
or email me at ken@seedlibrary.org
for more info.

Thanks for your interest,

Ken Greene

Michael, i found this potential source for your Arracacia xanthorrhiza
seed on the web:
http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Arracacia+xanthorrhiza
"...........but a potential source for it seems to be Peace Seeds at
Corvalis, OR. They don't have a website, though, so we'd have to
mail/call to ask for a catalogue: 2385 SE Thompson St, Corvallis, Oregon
97333-1919 Phone: (541) 752-0421"

Hello,

I've just joined this list, but I'm very puzzled by the posting by
bob@4agoodauction.com listing a bunch of companies that offer GMO seeds.
Did I miss somthing? To me this suggests a list of companies that members of
this list might wish to avoid.  I apologize if there was an earlier thread I
missed and this somehow should make sense - but I searched the archives and
didn't find one.  Clarification appreciated.

Teresa
