Re: [seedsavers] cleaning lettuce seed?

3/64 x 1/2 (or whatever) screen gently shaken side to side (so seed passes
long side of holes) seems to work. Stop when the lettuce has passed down
through the screen and tip off the larger trash. Don't shake or tap for any
up and down action - that's a no no that helps sticks find the holes - also
don't overload the screen. I still winnow but with great care - I lose
seed that way but retain the heavier (and better quality) seed. Alternate
screening and winnowing, and repeat untill clean.
