002b_BA - Baquet de CharleroiThe Baquets de Charleroi were barges built for the Canal Brussels-Charleroi in Belgium. Most of them were towed by women and children or by mules and horses.
002b_BE - Beunschepen
002b_BO - BoeierakenA Boeieraak can easily be recognized for its up going bow and stern. She had a bow mast. There are not many Boeieraken left.
002b_BR - BoerenschouwA Boerenschouw is a small inland wooden vessel. The boat is open, and has nearly the same width all along the length. She had a square looking shape and the sides go open from the keel up, like a wide V-model.
002b_CB - Crane bargesCrane barges are platforms or converted barges with a heavy duty crane on their deck.

002b_DE - DekschuitenDekschuiten are flat bottom barges where cargo was stored on deck. Most of these barges were pushed or pulled. THey were very low and had no accommodation (a few exceptions had accommodation).

Many of these barges have been rebuilt for woonarken or other recreational purposes.

002b_HU - Humber KeelsHumber Keels were specifically designed and rigged to sail the canals, rivers and estuarial waters of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire efficiently. In 1976, the ship Comrade was the first keel to return to sail in over thirty years. She still sails today.

002b_KA - Katwijkers & Motorbeurtschepen
002b_KE - KempenaarsKempenaars were designed in the early 20's of the last century. These boats were between 50 and 55 meters long. Originally built for towing, they became motorised after the war.
002b_KL - Klipperaken, Friese & Hollandse klippersKlipperaken (translated as 'Motor clipper') were small inland vessels with a clipper bow. These ships appeared at the end of the 19th century when shipbuilders were moving from wood to steel. Most of them had one mast.

002b_LM - Luxe motorA Luxe motor is a dutch type barge, built for the first time in the early 20's of the last century. Most vessels had a straight bow and a luxury accommodation for living at the back of the ship.

002b_NA - NarrowboatsA narrowboat is a boat or small barge used on narrow beam canals in Britain. Modern narrowboats are made about six feet ten inches (about 208 cm) wide. They are typically up to 72 feet (22 metres) long.
Modern narrowboats have steel bodies and diesel engines, and are used as homes and for recreation.

002b_PA - ParlevinkersParlevinkers are small inland vessels used as a floating shop. These little boats sailed to the barges, so the skipper and his wife didn't have to leave their boat to buy food.
002b_PU - Pushers
002b_RI - RietakenRietaken were one of the smallest inland barges, their length between 10 and 18 meters. Their cargo holds were open.
The accommodation for the crew was 3 meters long and 2 meters width. It was not higher than 1.50 meters.

002b_TJ_HE - Tjalken: HektjalkenThe Hektjalk, often called Statietjalk, was one of the oldest models of a tjalk. Today, only one vessel is left, the Vier Gebroeders in Enkhuizen.

002b_TU_AM - Tugs: AmsterdammersLike the name mentions, an Amsterdammer is a motor tug suited for the low bridges in Amsterdam. Like a steilsteven, an Amsterdammer has a straight bow. These boats are more used as cruising yacht. They are to small for long time live aboard.
