| Moran Towing and Transportation Corporation MORAN commenced operations in 1860 when Michael Moran purchased a one-half interest in the tugboat Ida Miller for $2,700. New York harbor was alive with ships, many of them still powered by sail. Before long, MORAN had grown into a fleet of tugboats. The company's big white "M" logo on its tugboat stacks has been a fixture in and around New York harbor for more than 140 years and is recognized worldwide.
