Using PhotoShop | |
|
Photoshop is used to design and edit images. It is the image-editing tool of choice for most designers and publishers. Photoshop allows you to manipulate pictures build complex images from many single images and recolor, retouch, and remove images from their backgrounds. Generally, however, you will not use Photoshop to create original graphics. Instead, you will use it to modify images youÕve created in another application or that youÕve scanned into your computer. Photoshop has a reputation of being hard to learn; it is not so much difficult as dense, though. Because of the programÕs density, you should not expect to know everything about the program after just one or two classes. You should also keep in mind that you will often need to use several different Photoshop tools to create a desired effect, and because of the programÕs artistic nature, many of the tools require practice and a little imagination to use them effectively. PhotoShop Introduction - This document and class will introduce you to many of the basic tools Photoshop offers. You will learn how to touch up images by using the paint tools, various colors, and taking color samples. You will also learn to use the basic selection tools to select an area of an image and to make editing changes to it. Image Correction - This document and class introduce you to some more advanced techniques for correcting your images, using features such as image correction options and filters. Along the way, it will also cover three new tools from the toolbox. Layers (Very important!) - This will show you how to use layers to edit your image more easily and to make different parts of your image interact with one another. You will learn how to create and edit layers, how to make them transparent, and how to change their stacking order so that you see different things on the screen. You will also learn how to create special effects by changing the layer modes or by using one of the special layer effects. Finally, you will learn how to use adjustment layers and layer masks, and how to decrease the number of layers in your image through merging and flattening.
Creating a Simple Rollover Now that you have read about some of the basics of PhotoShop, you are ready to create a simple rollover button in PhotoShop. If done correctly, this ".psd" can act as a template for future buttons and will save you a lot of work. |
