Dr. Packer
began her career as a newspaper reporter, working at The High Point
(N.C.) Enterprise and The Charlotte (N.C.) News.
Her full-time teaching career began at Boston College in 1983, and
she joined the UNC-CH faculty in 1998.
She teaches media law to both undergraduate and graduate students,
and recently created a new course, “The Law and Ethics of Cyberspace.”
She also has taught newswriting and reporting classes.

Dr. Walden is the director of Graduate Studies and serves on the School's Graduate Admissions committee. She is the author of Mass Communication Law in North Carolina and several book chapters, has published articles in Journalism & Mass Communication Monographs, Journalism Educator, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, COMM/ENT, and Hastings Journal of Communication and Entertainment Law. Her research interests are mass communication law and First Amendment theory. |
