Please answer the following question regarding Internet Conferencing Software in general

Directions: Assuming there were no technical problems, rate how strongly you agree with the following statements regarding using Internet conferencing programs in general, (not just Internet Conference Professional). Use a scale of: 1 = not at all à 5 = completely.

Assuming a group’s members cannot or prefer not to meet face to face, a fully functional Internet Conferencing Program (ICP) could be an important tool for the group completing case assignments.

Assuming a group’s members cannot or prefer not to meet face to face, the following capabilities are desirable for a group to have in completing case assignments:

Real time ability to talk to each other (real-time voice).
Real time discussion forum (text communication).
Real time ability to view and edit a document simultaneously.
The ability to actually see a live pictures of members of the group during the conference.

Assuming a group’s members cannot or prefer not to meet face to face, in addition to the capabilities in question 2, the following capabilities are probably going to be necessary for the group to have in completing case assignments:

Phone
E-mail (without attachments
E-mail (with attachments)
Text chat
Real time technical support
Technical support within one day
The program be accessible from a laptop?
Please discuss characteristics of of technical support that you felt were helpful, and ways that tech support could be improved

Assuming a group’s members cannot or prefer not to meet face to face, in addition to any of the above capabilities which I find desirable, fully functional Internet conferencing can probably be most effective when used in conjunction with:

Members working alone on their cases before getting together on-line.
Sharing of computer files for members to review before getting together on-line.
Not all meetings being with the group as a whole when there are groups of 4 or more.
Please discuss other methods that you think could improve group collaboration

Assuming a group’s members cannot or prefer not to meet face to face, the following is a major advantage of Internet conferencing programs vs. only using phone, e-mail and discussion forums:

Ability to schedule flexibly
Saves time
Improves communications
Improves ability to work as a group while viewing material
Improves ability for all members to participate to the extent they would like
Improves consensus building
Improves the final product (the case analysis)
