Flight

I travel furthur away, yet my heart draws nearer.
A thin cord stretches behind, attaching me, anchoring.
Tension, a tightening, a focusing.
My awareness opens to the sensation of travel.

My mind stretches backwards, recalling distant events.
The tendons in my soul are streched, distended.
And, although I feel the wearing pressure,
I will return, stronger, leaner.

This flight- it frees me from the ground.
It separates me from the daily rotation.
Perspectives open, expand, to fill the larger horizon.
When I am again afoot, what will remain?
