Treehouse Days

I rediscovered all my child-hood noises today. I flicked my lip, breathed out, and made a "blub-blub" sound. Seemed hollow-- not the shiny bright thing I recall from my tree house days.

Still wading in fast water,
building a huge three inch dam
across the four foot nile.

Dashing up the red clay bank,
race a hundred foot mile
towards our ten foot tree palace.

Climbing the nylon vines,
scale the stunted elfin bowers
away from the flash flood trickle.

Huddling against the raspy trunk,
dream away homework and war
finding a deep calm in a cold drizzle.
