Title: SECS implementation note
Post by: Tschachim on February 15, 2008, 09:28:16 AM
Hi developers,

I'm still working on the RCS and in order to get for example the RCS CMD and RCS TRANSFER switches working realistically, I need a basic SECS implementation covering at least CSM/LV separation, CM/SM separation and some earth landing stuff. So I'm going to do a simple SECS for now, which will just cover these events in a simple way, i.e. no abort handling, simplified timing etc., just something that is fine for a normal Apollo 7 mission.

So just in case someone else is or is going to work on the SECS, too, please post here so we can coordinate the work a little bit.

Cheers
Tschachim

Great news :ThumbsUp432: I'm rather glad to hear especially from you after a while :)

Sorry that I can't do something related to systems implementation (but graphical updates will follow and continue of course). If you still need something graphical or updates for the CSM main panels just don't hesitate to ask for!

Hi Moonwalker,

Great news :ThumbsUp432: I'm rather glad to hear especially from you after a while :)

Sorry for the silence, I'm still here and industrious...
The RCS is more work than I expected, but I'm about half-way through and hopefully will have something ready soon.

Yes, there's something you could take a look at actually: As shown on this picture: http://www.space1.com/Artifacts/Apollo_Artifacts/FLOWN_FDAI/Apollo_15_Panel/Ap15_S71-43745_crop.jpg , there are 2 green bars on the left scales of the two SM RCS meters, the first one is from 115-175 F, the second one from 178-207 psi. It would be cool if you can add them to the main panel.  :)

Cheers

Sounds like a good idea; the SECS has been on the 'really ought to do this one day' list for quite some time :).

Tschachim, since I am wrapping up on the Checklist Controller, I'd be willing to take on the SECS.

Just point me in the right direction to get started and I can run with this.

Well, for me it's more comfortable if you let me finish my basic implementation at first. But after that's - hopefully soon - I'd be happy if you take over and further develop the SECS.

Cheers

Can't wait to see it working :Excited432:

Okay. I'll commit it this week, hopefully together with the new hatch and the 600's panels. But the hatch is not a 100% promise ;)

Changes done. But I couldn't commit it yet. I got the following message each time I tried: "unrecognized response `Access denied' from cvs server". Now, after a few more attempts, it seems to work. The CVS server seems to behave like the Orbiter Forums :D

I'll do a complete checkout at the moment, and commit the changes tonight...

Well, I get a little bit closer commiting the latest files. Meanwhile I was able to edit and replace the left main panel and large main panel. Only the main center panel remains to be edited. But at the moment CVS goes on strike again... :awwcrap4253:

Working with CVS is a real pain at the moment...

Okay, the new RCS gauges are committed, after several attempts. And sorry for spamming this thread... :D

It's just a very minor update. I wish I could do so much more for this phantastic project... :(

Don't worry, you're doing a great job with the panels.  :ThumbsUp432:

Well, if you're really looking for new work and given your talent as artist you might want to look at 3D models, too?

EDIT: Ahh, it looks like you already had the same idea:

Thanks for the compliments Tschachim. More 2D panel stuff will follow very soon... ;)

Here you go for my 3D plans http://www.ibiblio.org/mscorbit/mscforum/index.php?topic=1581.0

Just checking, any word on where we are with implementing this?

Mostly I'm itching to get my hands dirty again...

It's not ready yet, but hopefully soon. But if you like you could take a look at the DSKY support for the checklists we talked about in the other thread, we'll need that sooner or later. :)

Cheers

The question of course is how to implement that, seeing as how we are hardly even considering the dsky a switch.

Ahh, sorry, I forgot about the discussion in the other thread, I posted my :twocents22: there:
http://www.ibiblio.org/mscorbit/mscforum/index.php?topic=1459.msg14535#msg14535

But that's just a suggestion, I'm very happy that you're looking for work and I'm sure we'll find something you like, there's enough work left.  :)
Also, perhaps Swatch needs some help with Checklist MFD (a high priority feature in my point of view) or dseagrav with the LVDC++?

Cheers
