Title: An Idea
Post by: startrekmaniac on September 30, 2008, 11:19:59 PM
Okay first off I don't know anything about making addons, coding, or programing. But I was thinking that it maybe its time we either create new or update the addons for Mercury and Gemini. Pretty soon they wont be playable on new versions of orbiter. I would hate to see these good addons die. Is there a group of people or individuals here who would like to take up the flag and do this work?

I would do so. At least I would offer my instrument panel graphics as usual :)

But I have bad experiences. I already drew almost the complete panel graphics for the space shuttle too a few years ago. It was a lot of work but the project died (my panels are in "standby" nevertheless ;)). I also started to work on Mercury and Gemini control panels the way I did the Apollo panels. But no interests until today sadly. There is some dreaming and discussions going on in the orbiter forum concerning Gemini but as far as I know no concrete work really (I may be wrong). I whish we would get people like Tschachim for Mercury and Gemini but I have a bad feeling about the future of these addons. The only light I can see for now related to panels, system and detail is NASSP.

PS: Actually I'm working on a non-public version of Mercury for now, replacing the instrument panels by real looking panels I got from a quick time movie of the real mercury interior. Maybe I get the permission to offer it as a patch or so. We'll see...

I second this, Mercury and Gemini need to be re-newed. Gemini more than Mercury though.

You can help indeed, both Project Mercury and Gemini are open source projects. If you want to work on that, just write the project admin, Rob Conley a PM (robertsconley), he can tell you more details and can add you to the SourceForge developers of the projects.

Cheers
Tschachim
