Title: CTD After 91 seconds
Post by: avtech on August 23, 2006, 02:55:15 PM
I have downloaded the latest beta module & meshland and after 91 seconds the program crashes to desktop. Any Ideas on what is causing this?:?

What're you doing when it crashes?

OK, does it happen if you load a scenario and just let it sit there without touching anything?

That's afrimative.

What is afrimative?  I'm trying to think of what happens after 91 seconds of a scenario start. If a sound is played after an interval of time, like the Mission Control announcements, you may have a sound file missing or mislocated. Otherwise, it could be a sound hardware problem.

Missing sound files shouldn't be a problem: if it doesn't exist, we don't try to play it.

I do not think it is a soud file problem. all the misson control narrations play fine, along with cabin ambeince sounds.

I tried the Apollo 11 Quickstart. After 91 seconds, there are no events that would trigger a CTD. I suspect your videio driver.

I did a little experiment using Apollo 11 quickstart & this is what I discovered
External view Launch OK.
Cockpit View 91 seconds CTD.
Virtual Cockpit view OK.
No Cockpit view OK.
I'm Thinking that something in the cockpit code is causing the ctd's that I'm
experiencing. Also I do not have a compiler to check where the problem in the code may be. any advice on what I should do next?

P.S. Thanks Guys for all your help!!!

Hm, interesting. At around 2 minutes, the Inboard Engines are cut off, which activates a switch toggle on the CSM panel. Could be you're missing a texture or DLL code that causes the CTD. Are you using the latest build?

yes I am using meshland 20060717 & Apollo Beta 20060829 With Fresh cvs Updates On Orbiter 06, Also when in cockpit view I barely make it to the caution & warning system check and then it crashes, when in quickstart mode launch vehicle never leaves the pad.

When you say 'fresh CVS updates', I assume you're also rebuilding the modules?
If not, then some of the newer code may be incompatable with the former.

Hm, this could be a graphic adapter issue, did you try to update your driver?
Perhaps it's worth a try to insert

FDAIDISABLED 1

into the ProjectApollo\Saturn5 vessel section of a scenario, so the OpenGL FDAIs are disabled.

Cheers
