CTD when doing SV update
«
on:
August 01, 2012, 11:26:01 PM »
I'm just getting back into Project Apollo after being away for a while, and I'm running into a problem while running A7 (Virtual AGC)
When I use the PAMFD to do a SV update, Orbiter crashes when pressing the "SV" button the second time (which of course actually starts the update).
Running the current build of the beta modules.
Windows 7 64 bit.
Problem occurs in every Project Apollo scenario I've tried.
Also occurs whether I run "orbiter" or "orbiter_ng", in full screen or a window
I did some research and figured it might be a firewall issue, but disabling it didn't change anything. Also, if I run the standalone telemetry client, I get data from Orbiter, and can send data to the spacecraft.
I've run out of ideas on how to fix it. I've attached a scenario in case I've got something odd going on there.
thanks,
Scott

I show the same. Somebody has added the 'other state vector' upload capability recently. Maybe something went wrong while doing this.

In a way, I'm glad to know it's apparently not my fault

P30 target upload and AGC clock sync works. There must be something wrong with the internal SV transformation, because those routines are shared by both SV upload routines.

I removed the "other vehicle" feature, it caused the bug and is not necessary, you have been able to upload any vehicle state vector by selecting it as source (SRC button) already. If the source vessel isn't the focus vessel, the other vessel slot is used automatically. Could you guys check the attached dll, if it's working again, then I'll do new beta modules?
Thanks

The new module works fine on the SV update
Having me look at computer code is like having a monkey look at a wristwatch, but at least I know how to break things...
thanks again!

...which is why we need the 'other vehicle' feature. It's not possible to upload the focus vessel's SV in the 'other vehicle' slot. What's the problem with the 'other vehicle' feature, anyway? Just hardwire buffer address 306 to 1 resp. 2 for the 'this vehicle' option and to 77776 resp. 77775 for the 'other vehicle' option, regardless of what is selected as 'source'.

The name of the "other vehicle" needed to be set in the scenario, which it isn't, causing the CTD. As you can set an arbitrary source vehicle already, I don't like the additional scenario setting.

Do we need that? If yes, I can do an "other vehicle" button, which loads the source vehicle SV to the "other vehicle" slot, independant of the focus stuff...

Me too.

Yes. During translunar and transearth coast of Apollo 8 all SV updates from MSFN went into the other vehicle slot. Jim Lovell worked with the 'this vehicle' slot for his P23's. Should something went wrong with the upload, the vital SV wasn't harmed; and if something went wrong with the P23's, there was still the good SV from MSFN.

Seems complicated to me. Why don't we make all parameters freely selectable? We can still make it 'novice compatible' by setting the parameters to 'CSM, earth SOI, this vehicle slot' by default...

Do you mean a slot selection / toggle button instead?

Works smoothly in both earth and moon SOI.
Now I can go ahead and finetune P23's horizon alt. And test P22 with my new EMEMs.
