Wanted to mention a few things and ask for a bit of help, please!
First, I've downloaded the latest files as of yesterday for Apollo, and wanted to say that the improvements you are making look wonderful! Congrats to the team on this project, you guys should be up for some kind of award when this is finished I think, not sure if its possible, but would think it is well deserved anyway!
Have talked to a member here about doing a Pictorial Preview of Apollo, to be put up on a website, to give folks a chance to see what's coming in the future. Have been slowed lately by real life problems, but getting back into it again. Not going to get into trying to explain how all the various systems work, just pictures of what this project is going to look like, and where its going.
I was 18 years old during the flight of Apollo 8, so have a big interest in that flight, but also have a strong interest in Apollo 13. One of the stages of that flight I would like to take snapshots of, is when they were 4 hours out from reentry. It was at that point, that they jettisoned the SM and got some pictures of the damage to it. The problem is this, from other flights I've tried, when it comes time to separate the CM from the SM before reentry, the speed of separation is so great, that getting pictures is difficult at best. Is that speed of separation accurate, or is that how Orbiter handles it? Its like the CM suddenly goes to Warp 9 or something, lol
So, since I have little or no experience at all in writing a scn, would it be difficult for someone to come up with one for me? If time permits? What I was hoping for is along these lines. It would not be an accurate portrayal of what occurred, but how about this- separation of the SM has happened, but instead of it fading out in the distance at a fast speed, could it be shown like it was sort of flying in formation with the CM and LEM? At a short distance away, with it pointing down like we see in the actual photos taken at the time? Not needed would be all the details usually needed for a historical scn, just something I could get some fantastic pics for the preview! Would need some fuel in the LEM to be able to rotate for the snapshots, but other then that, what else would be required only a mission writer would know! Not necessary to be able to fly the complete reentry, but if you want to throw that in, go ahead!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
