|
|
Hi Apollo Fans,
as already mentioned in the sound forum I changed the usage of the docking probe for better realism, the old behavior was very wrong:
- Both CSM/LM FINAL SEP switches do the final (irreversible) separation now.
- Before docking you have to extend the docking probe: DOCKING PROBE EXTD/REL - up.
- After docking you have to retract the docking probe manually: DOCKING PROBE EXTD/REL - down, DOCKING PROBE RETRACT PRIM - up
- To undock (reversibly): DOCKING PROBE EXTD/REL - up.
More detailed instructions will follow together with the checklists soon!
Cheers

| Another issue with the docking probe is that I believe it was left in the LEM when they did the final seperation... we should really do that rather than have it float free. |

| BTW, the docking probe power circuit breakers are wired up now: you might want to integrate those with these changes. |

Done, quite similar to the IMU: The docking probe has to be powered to work and it draws 100W if it's moving, no clue about the real power consumption.
Cheers

I've just tested the new docking probe with a launch scenario and it works fine .
I read some doc on this apollo feature and It seems that the docking probe was removed to permit the tunnel access. After the final docking(when LM has lifted off from the lunar surface) the probe was remove definitely and stowed in the LM. So, after the final undocking, the CSM was in the config we have on NASSP
Congratulations, you reached the top of realism. |

So are the circuit breakers now wired up for the docking probe? The reason I ask is because i have just run a new scenario and at T.D & E, I just cant dock the two ships, keep bouncing right off one another . I left the Docking Probe EXTD / RET switch (guarded) in the up position and still they refuse to dock.
Thanks

The circuit breakers are wired up for the docking probe, but they are on by default (and not included in the latest beta). Did you start with a launch scenario after installing the latest beta? Did you extend the probe after reaching orbit? If this doesn't help you can post your scenario, then I'll try.
Cheers

| Ahh i have updated the beta modules, and am using an old scenario. Could that be the problem? |

Yes, you have to start over with a launch scenario after updating, because the docking probe gets enabled automatically (not extracted, just "made working") at tower jettision at the moment.
Cheers
