Green Energy Benefit Concert ok so this is the mass email that was sent to the unc student body in which the xtreme badasses sound was described...

The Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC), the Carolina Environmental Student Alliance (CESA), and MOST IMPORTANTLY the UNC Green Energy campaign bring you THE B-SIDES, live and in concert, feauturing THE XTREME BADASSES!

8:00 p.m.
PEABODY 104
FREE ADMISSION!! (aren't we so good to you all?)
--------------------

Two bands from the local indie/prog rock scene (both Cat's Cradle and Go! regulars) are offering a FREE concert--sponsored by SEAC and CESA--in the name of the UNC Green Energy campaign.

The Xtreme Badasses will be kicking off the evening. This local band successfully fuses a hard rock edge with a sometimes-subtle punk flavor for easy digestion. You can learn more about the band, as well as access audio and video clips of songs from the Xtreme Badasses' album "Pump Up the Treble," on their website at http://www.xtremebadasses.com/

The B-sides, whose first full-length album became the best-selling CD among local musicians when it debuted in 2001, have been compared to a sort of cross between Weezer and Jump Little Children. While that seems a somewhat accurate way of describing their combination of 'geek rock' and 'art/indie rock', it doesn't give enough credit to the B-sides' freshness or their potential to bring something entirely new (and entirely their own) to the music scene. Learn more about this band on their website, http://www.b-sidesrswell.com/

For a most excellent (and very FREE) concert to benefit the Green Energy referendum, mark your calendars. Come jam out with us THIS Saturday, Feb 8, 2003. 8:00pm in Peabody 104. Be there, or, well... you know.
