Fee, Credit, and Housing
Fee: The
fee for the institute is $200.
Credit: One hour
of graduate credit is available through the School of Education,
University of Virginia. Credit fees are approximately $145 for
Virginia residents and $190 for out-of-state residents, and are payable
to the university on the first day of the program.
Each
person who registers for credit must submit, by 5 September 1995, a
lesson plan that incorporates art of the period being studied.A letter
grade will be registered with the university.
Housing:
Accommodations for out-of-town participants will be available at
nearby Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. A private
dormitory room with shared bathroom will cost $26 per night. If other
accommodations are desired, participants should make arrangements with
a local hotel.
Registration Information
All participants must be preregistered.
Registration applications must be postmarked by 15 April 1995.
Teachers of all subjects and grades (K-12), as well as administrators
and principals, are eligible. Because space is limited to fifty
educators each session, the following selection priorities will apply.
Educational partnership Both individual
applicants and applications from teams of two or three people will be
considered. Team applicants do not have to teach in the same school or
attend the same institute session, but they should have a plan to
collaborate after completing the program. Teams composed of teachers
and administrators (principals, supervisors, curriculum specialists)
will be given special consideration.
Statement of
purpose Applicants are required to submit one-page letters on
school stationery, explaining why they would like to attend the program
and what they hope to learn. Team applicants should submit one
statement of purpose that summarizes the objectives of the group;
however, each member must fill out a separate registration form. For a
team application to be considered complete, each team member must be
identified.
Geographic distribution: To encourage
national representation, efforts will be made to allocate enrollment
from each of the five regions listed (see map and check
appropriate space on registration form).
All registrations are subject to confirmation: Send no money
now. Notification of acceptance will be mailed by 15 May 1995. If
accepted, applicants will have fifteen days to submit the registration,
program fee, and housing fee ( payable by check only). No
fees will be refunded; your cancelled check will be your receipt. If
not accepted, applicants' names will be added to our mailing list to
provide early notice of next summer's institute and other offerings for
teachers.
Application for academic credit and housing
must be completed separately. Details will be sent with the
confirmation letter.
