Professor Tom Cooper, Ph. D, received his B.A. in 1973 from Harvard where
he later served on the faculty of Visual and Environmental Studies. A
tenured professor at Emerson College for the past twenty years, Cooper
received his M.A. and Ph. D. at the University of Toronto where he was an
assistant to Marshall McLuhan. He was an assistant speechwriter in the
White House, a producer of space bridge teleconferences between the U.S. and
the U.S.S.R. in the 1980s and is the author of over 80 published articles
and six books, primarily about media ethics and criticism. As the
co-publisher of MEDIA ETHICS magazine (which he founded and originally
edited), he has raised over $200,000 in funding and is the winner of many
grants, fellowships and prizes. Tom is also a playwright and musician who
lives with his family (all are blackbelts and musicians) near Boston.
