Members of New Mon State Party and

The People of Mon State

SUBJECT:       Condolences

Dear Friends;

I am writing this condolences on behalf of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO). We are very sad to hear that Nai Shwe Kyin, the Chairman of New Mon State Party has untimely passed away this morning. Please pass our profoundest condolences to members of his family and compatriots as well as to all members of New Mon State Party at this extemely sad time.

Nai Shwe Kyin has been a great leader with a deep impression by his pure humanity, common sense, humour and greatly respected and admired by the Kachin people as a peace maker. In his language, there was no talk of revenge or opportunism, but deeply revealed how as to restore peace in the country. Thus, he has been a political guiding light not just to the Mon people and their ethnic brothers and sisters, but also for the entire people in Myanmar. May the symbol of peace that had designated by Nai Shwe Kyin be remained as the guidance for Mon and the Kachin people in the long years to come. So that the events of such a year of countrywide bloodshed would never be repeated again.

Myanmar has lost a great leader today. However, his inspiration will never die and carry us through the difficult days which still lie ahead. May the soul and the spirit of Nai Shwe Kyin will always be with the Lord in Heaven.

                                                                                                Yours sincerely,
