No Myanmar Independence Day Supplement in Top Bangladesh Newspapers

Dhaka, 05th Jan 02:  The 54th anniversary of Independence Day of Myanmar was hosted by Myanmar Ambassador U Ohn Thwin at a reception held at his residence yesterday.
Ministers, politicians, diplomats, journalists, academics, and high civil and military officials attended the reception.
But no special supplement celebrating the occasion on the Myanmar Independence Day in major Bangladesh newspapers were seen as in previous years.  Every year it was common to publish the addresses of the Myanmarese SPDC junta leaders Than Shwe and Foreign Minister, and about the development and the state of open market economy of the country  in the newspaper supplements.  This year the absence of such media coverage has surprised much of the newspaper readers in Bangladesh.
According to reports  received from the border of Rakhine State of Myanmar,   though the occasion was celebrated across the western state as per order of the Myanmar junta,  most of the Arakanese people living there think that they were cheated when independence to Burma was declared on this day in 1948.  All the Myanmar regimes since independence have been busy working for the development of Burma proper and not the areas of the indigenous peoples of Burma
Now people in Rakhine State cannot enjoy the civil liberties and freedom of expression, they have fallen far behind the development race all across the country, for which they think 'the independence of Myanmar' is a fake independence whose fruit is enjoyed by the Myanmar junta and its minions only and not for the people in general.   #
