STUDENTS' DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP CONCLUDED IN MYANMAR BANGLADESH BORDER
Maungdaw, 8th
February 02 : A two day long Youth and Students' Development workshop
was successfully completed in a place on the Myanmar Bangladesh border, a
spokesman from the National United Party of Arakan told our correspondent.
The workshop was
attended by 13 participants from seven Rakhine political opposition groups
including All Arakan Students and Youths Congress(AASYC), Arakan League for
Democracy(ALD), Arakan Labour Association (Exile)(ALAE), National United Party
of Arakan(NUPA), Rakhaing Overseas in Exile(ROE), Rakhine Women Union(RWU), and
Rakhine Youth and Development Programme(RYDP).
The workshop, a
rare occasion attended by many Rakhine political parties on the western side of
Myanmar, was
sponsored by Burma Relief Center (BRC). In the workshop the participants
discussed the future of the politically active present-day Rakhine
youths. They also offered their views on conducting future workshops ,
what their nature and contents would be besides the subject matter for their
own development.
The NUPA
spokesman has also pointed out to the fact that, Rakhine
State on the south western side of Myanmar
has been the most neglected state in comparison with the other border regions
of Myanmar. #
