Going to be constructed Dhaka-Rangoon Highway Sections on Check and Survey

Maungdaw, Nov 16: Burma Highway Department engineers started to check and survey motor-road sections passing through Maung Daw, Buthidaung and Rathidaung Township, Northern Arakan State, Burma, since September, according to reliable sources.

These road-sections have been checked and surveyed as they will be parts of Dhaka Rangoon Highway going to be constructed.

According to sources it is known that Burma- Bangladesh respective governments got bilateral agreement for construction of Dhaka-Rangoon Highway.Government of Bangladesh has already proposed Burma Military Junta to build a friendship bridge across the Naaf River.

It is known that Bangladesh government has intended to speed up its economic and commercial relations with South East Countries. By constructing Highway through Burma and Bangladesh, communication between South Asia Countries and South East Asian will be swift and multilateral co-operations among them will rapidly develop, three countries – Thailand, Burma and Bangladesh had reached a consensus in principle to build Highway across their country. It was declared recently by Bangladesh authorities concerned in a press conference.

16 Miles long Buthidaung- Maung daw motor road was build since British- time. It is known that motor –road from Maung Daw, Buthidaung passing through Rathidaung to Sittwe is not yet constructed. Now a motor-road from Maungdaw along the Naaf River and crossing Argnu-Maw, at mouth of the Mayu River heading to Sittwe is being constructed by UNHCR financial back up.#
