Four crew members of a Bangladeshi boat under Nasaka custody

th June 03:  Four Bangladesh nationals of a fertilizer carrying boat have been under the custody of the Nasaka security forces Area No. 7 at Maungdaw since 5th June 03, sources said.

On May 29th the crewmembers of the boat were on their way back after unloading a consignment of 2140 bags of chemical fertilizer at Shwe Mingan jetty of Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State.  On their return trip the engine of the boat broke down and four of the crewmembers were taken into custody by the Nasaka troops while the remaining two drifted away to the sea.

The four persons hail from Maheshkhali Island under Cox’s Bazaar district, and the names are: 1. Abdul Hakim, 30, son of Abul Hashim, 2. Badi Alam, 30, son of Jura Meah, 3. Musa, 30, Nadek Afroz, and Nahi, 35, son of Oloto.

They were in the boat owned by Rashid Aziz, son of Bazal Ahmed of Maheshkhali.  They boarded the boat on 15th May. 

It is hoped that the four persons will be handed over to Bangladesh side in the next flag meeting between the two countries.  #
