Women’s League for Burma (Bangladesh) observes Daw Suu Kyi’s Birthday

Dhaka, 19th June 03:  WLB (Bangladesh) observed the 58th birthday anniversary here in Dhaka.  In a simple ceremony attended by members of the Women’s League of Burma (WLB), representatives from the Arakan League for Democracy, and Committee for Burmese Refugees and other individuals, the speakers elaborately discussed about the present political impasse of Burma and wished a very long and peaceful life for the Opposition Leader of Burma.

In a statement, the WLB (Central) demanded that all the democracy-loving people of the world should press the military regime of Burma for the release of all the political detainees including the Nobel Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and force the Burmese junta to punish the criminals who conducted the attack on the 30th May at Depeyin.  They also called on the Security Council to facilitate the dialogue aimed at establishment of democracy in Burma.  WLB also urged all the people of Burma including the women in Burma to give coordinated support to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi until and unless democracy is installed.

In another statement WLB (Bangladesh) condemned the cowardly act of the SPDC junta for its Depeyin massacre.  They also demanded the release of the leaders of NLD including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, to open up all the NLD offices, and to force the junta to resume the tripartite dialogue immediately.

The meeting was mostly attended by the Rakhine Women’s Union (RWU) members and was chaired by Saw Win Win Gyaw.   #
