Bangladesh Army seized deadly Weapons Near Bangladesh-Burma border

Dhaka, January 2: Bangladesh Rifle (BDR) in an operation seized a haul of deadly weapons from Bangladesh- Burma border, according to today’s The Daily Star.

The weapons include 32 antitank mines, six rocket launchers, the list also features 7 antipersonnel mines (with body trap), 10 rockets launcher cells chargers, a grenade firing bomb, 18 grenade firing bomb chargers and equipment for 14 rocket launcher cells.

The weapons were seized by the BDR after a fire fight with terrorists at Lemuchhari, 30 kilometers of Nakhongchari town, Bandaban, yesterday.

The terrorists were suspected to have links with Arakanese rebels of Burma, the paper said.

Bangladesh Arm forces has been active in the Chittagong hill tracts area since August last year 2003 and seized considerable amount of weaponry from Arakanese rebels’ hide out by end of last year.

The weapons seized yesterday by BDR were for the first time in the year 2004. #
