Two Burmese nationals sentenced to  25 years imprisonment in Bangladesh

Cox’sBazar, April 5
: District judge court of Cox’sbazar sentenced 25 years imprisonment to two Burmese nationals last week.

The two sentenced are Moe Gro,45 and San Hla Aung,36.  They are members of Arankan Army, the armed wing of National United Party of Arakan (NUPA), fighting for freedom of Arakan.

They were arrested in
Ramu Township near the Burma-Bangladesh border area with two A.K 47 automatic assault rifle by Ramu police in 1999 later sent to jail and lodged cases against them of possessing of illegal arms and for illegal entering  Bangladesh territory.

After 4 years in custody they were sentenced to 25 years prison on last 25
th March.

In the past there were many arrests of Arankan revolutionaries with arms and ammunitions  but accusation and punishment were not severe like this one.

Sentenced of 25 years imprisonment to the Arakanese revolutionaries is the highest punishment in the history of
Bangladesh court, said a dweller of bordering area near Cox’sbazar. #
