Eight Officials fired by military junta without a solid ground


Maung-daw, June 10: Recently officials of Ton-pro-way, a newly established township of Arakan state, were sacked by the SPDC military government, reports our correspondent from the Bangladesh-Burma border area.


The newly built Ton-pro-way Township is 50 kilometers to the north of Maung-daw, where the Bangladesh-Burma Friendship Bridge is currently under construction.


The eight officials were sacked by the authority on 6th June on the grounds of negligence towards their duty, according to a statement by the authority.


The said eight personnel were assigned with the duty of development issues in the border area. Among them were two gazette officials, the sources said.


The personnel left the station for their native land due to insufficient salary paid by the government said the source.


The prices of daily commodities in the Burma-Bangladesh border area are two times higher than in other regions in Burma. The government officials cannot cope with their meager salaries, they are compelled to depend upon toll, bribe and illegal money taken from the local people.


The personnel fired by the authority are: U Khin Nyunt (Deputy Director), U Hla Kyaw, U Myo Thant, Ma Aye Aye Aung, Ma Mya Aye (LDC), Soe Thant (Guard), Kyaw Sein and Thein Naing, it was learnt.
