Burmese nationals in Bangladesh launch procession on 59th birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi


Dhaka, June 20: Over 60 exiled Arakanese Refugees from Burma in Bangladesh lunched a procession In Dhaka and held rally in front of Dhaka Press Club yesterday demanding immediate release of Aung San Suu Kyi on her 59th birthday, reported our correspondent


They chanted slogans in demand of immediate release of their democratic movement leader in Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi who has been under house arrest since May 30 last year.


 “We are celebrating the birth day of our great leader Suu Kyi she is now under house arrest and we want her immediate release “ said an activist holding a placard with Aung San Suu Kyi’s picture.


The leaders of Working Committee for Democracy Restoration in Burma (WCDRB) said “Most of the countries all over the world and UN condemned the military government in Burma for arresting the political leaders of the country without any legal ground.”     


In June- down- pouring Bangladeshi heavy rain a group of journalist talked to the members of procession, “ We urge the world community to boycott ruling junta in Burma until its patriotic and elected leader Suu Kyi is released” they replied.


They also demanded of releasing all the political prisoners in Burma and postponement of false national convention.


Besides, they distributed the leaflets describing their opinion and demands in three languages in Bengali, English and Burmese. In the leaflets, they requested international democracy loving community for all out assistance for the restoration of democracy in Burma. #
