The 10th Annual Rakhaing Thingyan in New York City

Dhaka, July 20: This is the 10th year the local New York City Rakhaing group has setup and operated the Thingyan in New York City, New York, USA.

According to Rangoon Post, this year it was located in New York's Chinatown which is one of many ethnic neighbourhoods.

Through-out the day there were traditional costumes, comedy, singing and dancing. The water play was limited in this location to a small section of the school yard.

About 500 Burmese and others from Burma came to enjoy the food, water and enterntainment. The event was open to the public so many more locals attended or watch from just outside. There was even an old homeless man dancing in front of the stage with the young and beautiful dancers.

This was a great community event as always and introducing many to a traditional central Asian event.#
