Rangoon, went to repatriation camps and rehabilitation centers for refugees

under the Maungdaw Township.

The envoy first visited the Kanyin Chaung Repatriation Camp, which is a major

refugee camp, where they met with several government officials under the

Immigration Department as well as officials from UNHCR.

U Sein Maung Myint, a director of the Arakan State Immigration Department,

shared with them the latest developments of repatriation and the Burmese

government's procedure for repatriating refugees from Bangladesh.

One of the UNHCR repatriation officials explained the implementation of UNHCR

procedures on returning refugees and told them that temporary citizenship cards

had been issued to refugees by the Burmese Military Government.

The envoy had many questions for both UNHCR and Burmese officials about the

condition of repatriated Muslim refugees, known as Rohingya, and they also

inspected the UNHCR's process of repatriation.
