SPDC’s patronized Mon State Union Soliderity and
Development Association (USDA) is gathering a USDA
leader from each village in
with objective of providing tactics
how to recruit new
members for the organization.
“Township USDA leaders are gathering the USDA members
list from the villages for the registeration of the
training which will start on
December 29,” Nai Jorn
reported.
The training will be held for a week and it will hold
all Township in Mon state at the
same day, Jorn said.
“The training aims for USDA members to achieve it’s
goal in organizing people and
participate in campaign
for recruitment,” Jorn explained.
In some USDA meetings, the reports described that USDA
must provide service for the people
in terms of
development such health and
sanitation projects in the
area concerned.
It is the first time that USDA plan intensive training
after Countrywide USDA Conference
in September 2004,
after they review they did not
achieve their goals
that to increase 100 USDA members
in each town quarter
and 30 members in each village.
“It seems that USDA plan is for increasing its members
to be a strong organization and organized
the people
to join the organization,” Jorn analysed.
For the accommodation of USDA member who registered
for the training each village
have to pay 5000 Kyat
to Township USDA authorities.
According to village headmen, the money for the
commodation
of USDA trainees
will be collected from the
villager, Jorn said
USDA was an organisation formed by
the military
regime, and it has used them to
collect information
and as anti-prodemocracy
activities. The government
also tried to upgrade the USDA as polictical party and
hundreds of USDA member joined in
National Convention.
In Mon State USDA tried to increase it members by
organising
by providing business opportunity to the
local people. Although USDA have
used ‘house by house’
organizing tactics in the towns in
did not achieve their objectives.
