Animal breeding projects have been implemented in eastern Shan State as the poppy substitution projects. Over 200,000 fish fingerlings and 500 piglets were given to cease-fire SSNA and PSLA in July, said an official from the livestock breedings department.
Western part of the central mountain range is the place where most of the teak re-plantings have succeeded, said an official from forestry department. There are a total of 37075 acres of teak plantations in the whole Burma in 2005. A total of 6850 acres of teak have been replanted in 2005, said the official.
The forestry department could perform to surpass its targets of reforestation in the country. The department exceeds its reforestation target of 75100 acres by finishing 75660 acres.
