activist sentenced to 17 years jail here, after making public
protests against the State Peace and Development Council for the
third time, has lost his first appeal in the Myanmar courts.James
Mawdsley, 27, first entered the country in September 1997.He chained
himself to a gate at the No 6 High School, on Anawrahta Road, and
distributed pamphlets as part of a one-man campaign against the
