A SENIOR official from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has welcomed a move by the four newer members of ASEAN to strengthen their aviation links to promote air travel, tourism and cargo services.The deputy director general of the ministry’s Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, U Tin Maung Shwe, said he hoped the agreement would help improve the Myanmar tourism industry.

 
U Tun Lwin, the deputy director general at the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, under the Ministry of Transport, said the wet season was also forecast to end in mid-September, about one month earlier than usual.
 
South Korean soap operas broadcast on the Myanma Radio and Television and Myawaddy television channels have attracted a huge following and fans said they looked forward to opportunities to meeting their stars when they come to Myanmar for the movie.

A WALK-IN aviary being built at the National Kandawgyi Gardens in the highlands town of Pyin-Oo-Lwin near Mandalay is due to open later this year as part of a project to educate the public about biodiversity conservation, an official said.

 

MPRL Exploration and Production Private Limited, one of the biggest onshore oil exploration and extracting companies in Myanmar, is planning to invest US$8.5 million in new drilling activities in 2005, said Mr Terry Howe, the company’s country manager.

The Myanmar Real Estate and Construction Exhibition 2005 is being organised by Myanmar Estate Group, one of the portfolios of News Link Co., Ltd with the support of the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association and the Association of Myanmar Architects.

 

“The film will be released all over India and screened as long as there is an audience for it,” said its director, Mr Shyam Benegal, best known for his television series on Indian icon Jawaharlal Nehru, a cinematic study of the revered Mahatma Ghandi and an account of the life of vocalist Begum Akhtar.

 

There were five sections in the competition - pictorial (colour), pictorial (slide), pictorial (black & white), favourite (digital) and portrait – and it was open to photographers across Myanmar. About 100 photographers participated and nearly 1000 pictures were entered.

THE Ministry of Finance and Revenue football team has retained the Myanmar Premier League title for the fourth consecutive year following a 3-1 victory over the Ministry of Defence team at Aung San Stadium on May 3.
