What is Man, when you come to think upon him, but a minutely set, ingenious machine for turning, with infinite artfulness, the red wine of Shiraz into urine?
--Isak Dinesen (1885-1962)
"Hypertension, Dialysis, and Clinical Nephrology" is a site I found that provided much current information about diseases and treatments of teh renal system. It's actually designed to aide doctors and nurses in the diagnosis or their patients, and to help answer patients' questions about theses varoius diseases and conditions. The case studies and "Lecture(s) of the Week" were what I found to be most informative and enjoyable. Some of the information on this site is marked by the same things we discussed in class and by seeing it in a different perspective makes it a little easier to understand.
"Sometimes after studying a subject for a while, I want to find "real world" information on our subjects. For the urinary system, I was interested to learn more about the current knowledge of the kidneys and their relation to disease. I found the Nephron Information Center as a conglomeration of all such knowledge. It's neat when I can read about diseases and advances in medicine and feel empowered because I understand the medical implications of each advance."
"I found this website very helpful in understanding how the kidney's work. "
" i have been using this website along with the unit outline. not only does the website follow the outline, it has images that allow students to test their knowledge of the "nephro" i think the best sites on the web not only are descriptive but include pictures, drawings etc. if students need extra renal information this website will be beneficial."
