- Anatomy & Physiology
[contributed by a Bio 169 student]She writes: "This is one of the many websites I have used to help study for your next exam. The website covers the Respiratory and Digestive system as well as previous material. It includes easy to read diagrams, terms and quizzes. I recommend this site to any Anatomy and Physiology student."Another student writes: This A&P section is actually just a portion of a larger cancer oriented website. It has a very good overview and review of systems, including cardiovascular, with good visuals and multiple choice/drag & drop quizzes at the end of each unit. I am finding it helpful and hope other students might.- Best Practice of Medicine
One of the Merck Reference sources. Each area of medical practice is covered and offers concise, authoritative guidance on diagnosis and treatment. In addition to professional guides, monographs aimed at patients are provided.Contributions by Students
- Medicine Net
From a Bio 169 student. She writes:"MedicineNet.com" is a general website that listed information on almost everything we have learned this semester. The layout made it easy to navigate through the different body systems. "MedicineNet.com" may be designed for the average patient or concerned health citizen, but the 600+ topic sections were informative for answering the how?, where?, when?, what?, why? questions that most students ask while learning the anatomy and physiology of the body. After your discussion in lab today about COPD, I wanted to really learn more about COPD and its impact on the lungs compliance. The COPD site answered my questions (plus more I didn't think of) and had links to related lung diseases (such as asthma and emphysema) and an entire COPD Center Page. I highly recommend "MedicineNet.com" for my fellow classmates and my family!
- Basic Medical Training Manual
From a Bio 169 student. She writes:The "Basic Medical Training Manual" is easy to understand. It includes 16 chapters from the anatomy & physiology of the body to clinical applications. I will be entering the nursing field and the "Basic Medical Training Manual" helped me to see how my studies from BIO 169 will transfer to the application once I am a nurse.
- Gray's Anatomy
From a Bio 169 student. He writes:The Bartleby.com edition of Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body featuring 1,247 vibrant engravings - many in color - from the classic 1918 publication, indexed by subject and illustration. Viewing it thru yahoo is faster than Bartleby's site, and without annoying pop-ups. A great (and free) resource. From a professor of anatomy. He writes:
As an anatomist, however, I would like to mention that the Gray's Anatomy website, which contains the figures and text of the 1918 edition (the same one that can often be found for a dollar or two in bookstores) is a great resource for laypeople but should be viewed by anatomy and A&P students with caution. Much of the terminology is outdated. I discourage my students from using the book or the website because they often do not appreciate that they must translate the older nomenclature into today's terminology.
