Yesterday around 7:00 PM I glanced out the kitchen windows at the feeders
across the driveway. I saw a small brownish bird under them. Lately the
only ground birds have been cardinals and M. doves so I got out the
binoculars to have a look, thinking sparrow? I was wrong. As I looked
through the binocs, it looked like a Wood Thrush for an instant. It's back
was too greenish brown and smaller in size though. It was walking along and
sweeping at the dry earth with it's beak. It was as ovenbird! I'm not sure
if it was just walking along and happened to pass through my feeder area or
if it visited intentionally! It did take a quick bath in the birdbath and
then flew onto a low branch and then I lost sight of it. I am slowly but
surely getting to see all those different songsters that I've been hearing
around the house for months.
