Just to clear up any confusion anyone might have, the Topsail spoil site
and the Snead's Ferry spoil site are one in the same. The number and
diversity of species tends to vary somewhat dramatically in part because
the area is frequently used by dirt bike aficionados. For this reason
birders might want to visit the area on weekdays or early in the morning to
have the best chance at a diversity of birds. If you do arrive and bikers
are in the area, I have been very successful in asking that they remain in
the area away from the birds while we visiting. All to date have been very
nice and willing to help out.
