Early this year I began offering my birds a mixture I call "peanut butter crumble." It is simply peanut butter and plain yellow corn meal, mixed using a pastry cutter. I don't measure anything; I just add more of one or the other until the mixture resembles a streusel topping. I have been serving it in a clear feeder attached to my bedroom window. I was not surprised when I saw chickadees, titmice, chipping sparrows, and house finches. However, I have also seen bluebirds and phoebes enjoying the mixture. A bluebird and a chickadee have even brought fledglings to the feeder!(Pine siskins and goldfinches ate it during the winter.)
