Following up on John Fussell's oddball powerline percher, the oddest bird I
have seen sitting on a powerline was an Upland Sandpiper. It was a slightly
breezy day and the bird had a heck of a time keeping its balance with those
long legs, and feet that wouldn't curl around the wire. I don't know how he
did it. It must have been like one of us trying to walk a tightrope. He did
have a good view of his field from there, though.
