Rufous Hummer at Charlotte NC

I got to visit the Charlotte NC home of Jon & Sharon Peterson today
(3 Nov 2003) to band a young female Rufous Hummingbird. Thanks to the
Petersons for so graciously allowing me to show up at their door at 7
a.m.

The Petersons are the first members of our "Hummingbird Hobnob"
Yahoo! group to report a winter vagrant hummingbird that was in turn
banded in conjunction with "Operation RubyThroat: The Hummingbird
Project." :-)

Details about and photos of this bird are on the Web site for Hilton
Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History at
http://www.hiltonpond.org/RufousBanding021103Main.html .

Happy WINTER Hummingbird Watching!
