watch those swallows...

Hi C-birders,

Just taking a break, surfing the listservs... New Jersey is undergoing an
impressive invasion of Cave Swallows: at least half a dozen independent
sightings, one of them involving EIGHT birds! Then a pair of them just
showed up yesterday near the Eastern Shore NWR in Virginia, with a flock
of 3-400 Tree Swallows. And today, one was reported from Point Lookout SP
in Maryland, with about 10 Tree Swallows for company.

Cliff Swallow is on the official NC and SC bird lists, but the NC list
notes that there are less than 10 accepted records. The SC list doesn't
specify, I'd bet that there are even fewer.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough motivation, down in Florida - at the Viera
wetlands in Brevard County, same county as Merritt Island NWR - they're
debating over a green swallow with an all-white rump, possibly a Violet-
Green Swallow, in with a mixed flock of Tree, Barn, and Cave Swallows.

Watch those swallows!
